that noise at position II is the pump priming. -you'll know the sound of a pump on its last legs tho. have you got underneath + checked the wiring to the pump for chafes where it passes close to the chassis? -maybe some water ingress?? i had the same sort of thing + turned out my fuel pump was...

white spirit works well + evaporates fast, used it on my inlet manifold for both me fender + vectra. can fill a bucket for less than a fiver + leave to soak ;)

its the crimping face you need m8. ratcheting or not, normal crimping tools give a blunt crush, the ones in the link give a strong 'u' shaped crimp that bites into the wire. the link was just the cheapest i could find, i know AMP + durite do a ratcheting version for superseal connectors @ £65...

it too have a screech at top end of the turbo boost? only mention it as i drove past a m8 today and he said it souned like it was letting by... i've just replaced an intercooler pipe as this had perished + performance was lousy, de-EGR'd + fitted a terrafirma de-cat and center box...
