hi all
thought id share something that has cheered me up through my current man flu situation....
For some time now iv been toying with the idea of ousting the hobbit seat in favour of a cubby box -plus im getting annoyed with a hail of maps/crap hitting me in the back of the head every time i hit the brakes!
i really liked the tomb raider cubby with the round catch but at £170+ i couldnt justify it -that is much more than the rock sliders iv got my eye on!
Im not bad with woodwork but dont have enough time to start making my own so after looking around for an affordable solution i came up with a compromise;
i got the britpart cubby box for £30 (now i hate their crap but lets face it its not a clutch so think im safe)
found the tombraider catch for £20 in flea bay!
Now im not too happy with the MDF but three washes with a 60/40 - 50/50 - 40/60 WATER/PVA solution + its exposed underside is waterproofed enough.
Also the tacky rectangle of MDF on the bottom to form a foot for the box was terrible so found some cubby feet for £5 on (if you believe the adverts) the nations favourite auction website.
So for fifty quid, a bit of carefull measuring + a holesaw, bobs your mothers illigitimate half brother that your nan never talked about -and iv saved £120!
WINNING!
