p38 heater matrix change, how to?

Bit late now but were you not tempted tom swap the matrix for an Audi one to allow you to ditch the O rings ? --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=52.032928,1.193893

    P38 Air Con

Thanks for the reply yes I was thinking of trying Kwik fit as have heard the same approach as you that you don't get charged if it doesn't work especially as they only charge £50. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=52.033274,1.194200

    P38 Air Con

So my P38 has been in at the stealers for the 120k mile service, apart from some tyres and a slight oil leak. They have observed the air con isn't function now I had noticed that it didn't seem as cool as normal. They wanted £90 just to diagnose it so have left it at the moment, given I don't...

How hard is it to change the airbags

I used Dataek's idiots guide on the forum to help me swap all 4 air bags on my 2001 P38 took me a total of about 2 hours or so. I was lucky as the original air bags had the plastic tops so the clips came out easy and I just had to wrestle the rears out as they had manged to get stuck at the...

    That Sinking feeling

Well after having the replacment Arnot Gen II bags sat in the car for the last 3 or so weeks, finally took some time out and swapped the bags out today. Luckily the original ones had the plastic top and bottoms so the pins came out nice and easy. Hardest part was getting the old rear air bags...

    P38 Dianostics Connector

If i need to swap it, can get a brand new one for under 10quid off ebay. Will nip into Maplin's tomorrow and pick up some contact cleaner.

    P38 Dianostics Connector

The diagnostic connector pins on my P38 are looking a bit crusty, I would like to remove the pins from the plug to clean them up properly. Does anyone know how the pins come out of the connector ?

    S/S exhausts any recomendations please

A friend has got a Janspeed one on his P38 and it looks good quality personally I don't like the fact that you have to trim the bumper for the tail pipes. I was looking at one of the Double SS ones where they do a downard pointing tailpipe much like the original.

No working Radio in 300 TDI

Yes do mean the a/c fans, they are still going mad even with the a/c turned off. Will try disconnecting the temprature sesnor first, but I do have my suspicision that it might be a stuck relay.

No working Radio in 300 TDI

Thanks now just to track down why the cooling fans run with the ignition on, and why the front fog lights don't work.

No working Radio in 300 TDI

No working Radio in 300 TDI

I have considered running a permant live for the radio but would really like to get the ignition feed sorted as given its the wife's car I fear a call out when she forgets to turn the radio off

No working Radio in 300 TDI

I picked up an S plate 300 TDI for my wife last month and finally got it back on the road after changing the head gasket. The most annoying fault left to resolve is a non fucntioning radio, after checking the wiring it appears I am lacking the ignition feed, all the fuses are intact. Is there...

    That Sinking feeling

Yes appreciate the comments new air bags even OEM ones will feel better than 10 year old ones. It is tricky as at the minute I may keep the P38 longer the planned so the Arnotts seem appealing. Don't suppose anyone near Ipswich has P38 with a set fitted.

    That Sinking feeling

Yea I anticipate my compressor will need some TLC but have one that needs a refurb available to swap out. Have also got access to an EAS lead. Don't mind paying slightly more if the Gen 2s give some benefit. Worth noting I use my P38 to tow a 1600 kilo caravan and my car trailer with track car on

    That Sinking feeling

Thanks for that, any reason to get some Gen2s rather than some new standard ones

    That Sinking feeling

Just want to check something, had to move my P38 this monring so i could finihs unpacking from or return from holiday. Anyway after moving the car I went to open the rear door, and I could hear a hissing a first I thought it was the tyre. When I put my hand in to feel round the tyre I noticed...
