Just want to check something, had to move my P38 this monring so i could finihs unpacking from or return from holiday.

Anyway after moving the car I went to open the rear door, and I could hear a hissing a first I thought it was the tyre.

When I put my hand in to feel round the tyre I noticed the car getting closer to the ground and the hissing getting less. I am guessing my rear air spring is leaking.

It would make sense as it has taken a little longer to pump up than normal, and thinking about it that particular corner has sagged sometimes over night but I put that down to a slow puncture on that tyre.

So does my intial 5 minute diagnosis sound right ?

Yes. Fix it quick before your compressor is knackered. Replace all 4 as they will all be at the end of their life if one has failed. P38 Spares have a good deal at the moment on Arnott GEN 2's

It might be worth just spraying it quickly with soapy water to confirm that it is the airbag leaking and not the pipe...

Arnott Gen 2s are guarranteed for life and supposedly give a slightly better ride...

P38 spares Gen11 Arnott £299. Island4x4 Dunlop (original) £190.(free delivery). Get set of pins too, chances are you`ll need `em.
Pays `ur money `n` makes `ur choice.
As Datatek says compressor may be due some TLC soon. And if you haven`t get EAS unlock suite and OBD11 lead too.

Yea I anticipate my compressor will need some TLC but have one that needs a refurb available to swap out.

Have also got access to an EAS lead.

Don't mind paying slightly more if the Gen 2s give some benefit. Worth noting I use my P38 to tow a 1600 kilo caravan and my car trailer with track car on

I`ve no personal experience of Arnotts.
Those that have fitted `em seem happy enough; but not many people say "I paid extra for so n so an got took". Tis human nature to make the most of our choices.
If you`re happy with the standard why change? Or try to get adrive in a car fitted with `em. (but otherwise the same) to compare. Remember most fitting them are comparing shagged out Dunlops with brand new Arnotts. Not a level playing field!
As a word I fitted uprated shocks to my P38 and would advise others to stick with standard, unless they want to treat ordinary roads as a racetrack. Better cornering, but less comfort. Not what Rangies are for IMHO.

Also look at current Arnott Gen11 thread: seems like their guaranteed for life slogan means summat. Live n learn.

Yes appreciate the comments new air bags even OEM ones will feel better than 10 year old ones.

It is tricky as at the minute I may keep the P38 longer the planned so the Arnotts seem appealing.

Don't suppose anyone near Ipswich has P38 with a set fitted.

Well after having the replacment Arnot Gen II bags sat in the car for the last 3 or so weeks, finally took some time out and swapped the bags out today.

Luckily the original ones had the plastic top and bottoms so the pins came out nice and easy. Hardest part was getting the old rear air bags out as they had stuck themselves to the top plate.

Now time to refurb the compressor and swap that out.

Fitted gen 3 at the weekend the ride is a lot stiffer but I replace all the shocks as well , haven't been off road yet but for towing I would say pay the extra and go for the gen2's I got my from p38spares and they are very helpful . They are easy to fit but back ones were a little stuck
