Hi all,

I need help working what model Warn winch is fitted to the front of my disco 1. I figured my best bet would be to ask on here after Warn themselves have not seemed to be all too helpful.

Today I got the white spirit and a scraper out to try and clean off some rattle can paint from some more stickers. Please see attached pics also.

Motor codes: M= 25314
N= MRV-B-7
12v
D= 869

Info from clutch/gear end: First layer - 9000lbs, Min break strain - 9800lbs

The clutch lever is the chrome end type (is sprayed black as seen in pics).











The reason I am on the hunt to find out what I have is that I think soon it will need a quick going through.

The only current problem I have is that when I disengage the clutch to freespool (lever works smooth and nice) the drum is very stiff to let the line out, 2 or 3 people can pull it, but is so stiff it's easiest to pull out with another vehicle.

Any info' on what it is likely to be would also be great!

I had look at the models you suggested, the casing looks the same, but the motor is different.

Any ideas on what would cause the freespool issue it has?

Older model perhaps, Warn have had similar models for years with mostly minor changes as technology advances ...

I'd guess at rust, wear, general lack of maintenance.

I'd remove it and strip it down completely, take digipics of every stage, clean, fettle/replace parts, lube, re-build, re-install ... parts are available for probably everything on a Warn, unlike the cheaper no-name chinese (wherever) copies ...
