Hey,

I've just gone to open the rear door to my Freelander and the handle has part come away in my hand. If i want to reattach it do i have to take off the rear door card or can it be secured from the outside.

Any help gratefully received.

This is quite common on the F1. I think the actual handle can break and/or the mounting for it has rusted out.

I've not had it happen to me but there are some write ups on here for fixing problems. The search box will hopefully find them for you.

I would imagine the door card will need to come off, so if the wires to the handle have come loose, you'll need to emulate the handle micro switch by connecting wires to open the door to get the card off.

I've repaired 3 or four this way and last time I used quick setting epoxy from Poundland.
You'll have to take the door card off and do something to kill the rust.

+1 for Poundland epoxy. It's what I used and still holding fast.
