Is there anyway in which the OP can disable his airspring thing to see if that stops it?

That's a loose gear. Your probably getting it when it's floating. Floating driving in gear but hot excelerating and not slowing down therefore no load but the weight of the momentum. Probably shows up due to overheating under long duration of towing load. Possibly may notice when cold.

It's not the suspension or air pump that's chattering. Definitely swap gearbox fluid (whatever is in it now), and check the old fluid for metal and the plug. Probably not much big bits but thick silt metallic paste. If it's bits of metal then definitely gearbox repair. Please keep updated. There is options and info on replacement box you can put in also.
