I have tonight noticed diesel on my drive which looks to be from the pressure regulator.I realise this is a common fault. Is there a repair kit or does the whole unit have to be replaced?
Many thanks,andy.

Thats brilliant thank you very much.Do you have to pay import tax on spanish parcels? Iv never had anything from abroad!

I have done 3 of these on my TD5, one was aftermarket, one second hand and one I just bought the regulator. The first included the main body to head gasket, the other gaskets I got of ebay.
The new regulator has been on for a few years now but I do have a pressure problem at start up, no power for a few seconds – not sure if this is related to the regulator or not, if I have less than a half tank of fuel I seem to get air in the system as well, but no leaks.
Reasonably easy to take FPR off, ¼ socket and drive and lie over the engine from nearside to get access.
There is a small O ring which I’ve never been able to see, confirm it’s existence or replace – I’ll leave this decision to you.
Trust you have a copy of RAVE

theres is an o ring recessed in the head seals and secures the tubular screen ,once you remove o ring screen easily drops out and gets lost

if you remove the FPR dont forget to clean the strainer which is under it in the head
That strainer falls out easily and gets lost as in James' s post above, but can anyone explain the crazy price of it, or better still does anyone know where you can get one at a realistic price?
Mine has been running without for a few months now since I did my pressure regulator, but not sure what the long term efect would be, the fuel should have passed the filter under the wheel arch before it can get to the head.

So is the spanish kit my best bet?
I havent really got time to have the car off the road while bits get ordered.Im quite concerned about the part that gets lost.Il have to study where it is so i can be ready for it falling into the abyss lol
Thanks for all the replies.
