Hi everyone,

I have just swapped my old engine out with my gearbox and replaced it with a new one. Trying to start her back up and all she is doing is making a clicking noise coming from the engine. Not even trying to start. Do I need to reset the engine with a diagnostic tool? If so, what would be a good suggestion to buy? Price is not an issue.

I would imagine the ECM would need coding to the engine, but start with the basics.
There is a click ? Is it quiet like a relay if so check engine bay fusebox for correct position and fitment.
If it loud like a starter, make sure battery is fully charged and all connections to starter and earths are secure.

Hi,

Clicking noise is away, when you try to start the engine, the Clicking noise is coming from the starter motor

No harm in running a diagnostic, personally I would go for Autell or Foxwell as they have wider vehicle coverage.
If it just for LandRover I believe Lynx is a good one. Whatever you choose just ensure it covers your model and has plenty of life left. Some only cover vehicles to a set date.
But start with those connections and the starter relay.

Hi,

Thanks for the information. Thanks for your help. I am sure it's not going to be something that complicated. My mate has a diagnostic tool which I am getting tonight or tomorrow so I'll see what happens.

If the starter is clicking then I would suggest the car is trying to crank it but it will not as you have a flat battery or missed of a cable or two, earth strap etc.

Should have also said I assume you checked the new engine actually turns over manually?
