Hi

Got a hot starting issue developing in a Freelander 1 2003 TD4. I'd like to eliminate a few things with a diagnostic tool if possible. Feel like I could check the cam pos sensor and get some fuel pressure readings from the right tool which might help me determine if the HP pump is at fault too. Anyone got an official Land Rover diagnostic tool near the Brighton area I could plug in to?

Cheers

John

If you get near mid-kent, I have full diag kit for F1
What’s the issue?
Slight hot start issue. Have read it could be cam position sensor or potentially the HP fuel pump, maybe even injectors. I'm capable of doing leak back testsor doing whatever work needs doing but I want to try and get a heads up from diagnostics to decide where the issue is. Plus, its a new car to me (cheap project vehicle) be nice to just get a full read out.

Where abouts in Kent? I'd be more than happy to head over for a read out, cheers.

If you suspect the cam sensor, easy way to test it would be go for a drive, when you get back home and try to start the car after 5 minutes does it not start or struggle to start, ? remove the cam sensor which is easy a 5mm small socket is your friend for that, pop the sensor into a food bag stick it in the freezer for about 5 minutes, fit back on the car and see if it starts, or starts better.

I’m near Ashford.
Happy to arrange something if it helps… PM me if so. I have the Pscan system.
