So are you going to be playing with the pump? star wheel, top screw, max fuel screw?
Have you checked to see if the pin has already been turned?
Hav eyou adjusted the turbo?
Do you have a EGT gauge and turbo gauge?
Only reason I ask, is I started with the pin and went down the rabbit hole.

I enjoy playing with it,, pinned ringed , turbo wound to 21Psi and pump played with , but although mine has improved its acceleration a heck of a lot, especially in the 30 to 50 range, @flats std ( so he says ...
) is just as fast 0- 60. I reckon it is the lardy 400KG weight I got in the back that makes mine seem slower Some std motors seem to be spot on others take some work to feel as quick.See here

Whatever you do, make sure you write down what you change, how much you changed it and what you found. It can get tricky to try and remember what you did.
I would highly recommend getting a Turbo gauge and EGT before you start fiddling. Fourby do all the kit you would need, and od package deals if you look.
Nothing to stop you turning the std pin and seeing if it makes a difference , then look at a new pin.

IMHO, no EGT gauge must mean NO messing with the pump.
It's "common knowledge" that the head will live up to 719 C - but at 720 it will anneal, and you will no longer have an engine
My 300 is tuned, and I limit it to 650 as an absolute maximum - and cool it down properly after any such high temperatures.
The 300 is tunable to 200HP, BUT, it will be as dead as a dodo unless you keep a very careful check on EGT.
I'd honestly suggest that if you want more power, you get it sorted properly by someone with a rolling road and experience.

Watching this thread with interest. I bought a boost pin a while back, but have not fitted it until I have an EGT gauge which is on the way from China (turbo gauge already installed). My main concern is the amount of smoke - above the "normal" - that I may generate. I really don't want to be fiddling with it every time the truck is due an MoT, even if the extra pull would be occasionally welcome.
