Hi everybody
Does anyone know if it is possible to fit a roof tent to my freelander 1 3dr commercial?
cheers dean

I think the question is more one of why use a roof tent? Ordinary tents are cheaper, roomier and can be more confortable than a vehicle mounted roof tent.

Lions cant eat you if your in a roof tent.......wait.....

Considering the vehicle under consideration I'll amend that.

LITTLE lions.....:p

I have a sneaking feeling that the Freelander Commercial in question may not be anywhere near even little lions :)

Although having seen a full grown male on top of a trattor at some safari park or other (as a kid, my parents felt it was educational etc..) I'd not feel that safe even in a roof tent if there were real lions anywhere about :)

How about this one:

Hi :welcome2: nice one silkwood ,we live and learn ! i think you will need a set of 3 door freelander roof rails to hold a roof tent , and we do like our freelanders on ere ! :)

hi first you need a full roof rack one that has not got high sides and it needs a board on can be expensive for the roof rack but yes you can do it hope this helps

Hi,

Seen several of these tents fitted to all sorts of vehicles.

Mostly the keen camping nations - NL, B, DK, S, N, and D of course.

Quite popular on the run to Greece.

More anti-snake and creepy-crawly than anti-lion, I would think, although there was a Freelander Serengeti of course.

Very handy for overnight stops in motorway service areas where it's a bit difficult hammering pegs into the asphalt. Ho ho.

Only UK service areas charge for overnight parking - other countries encourage it - the farther south you go the more trailer tents and caravans you see overnighting.

Northern Europeans are seen in huge numbers heading for the sun in caravans and campers come June July and August. Whole convoys of friends travelling together.

Not many Brits though - my kids play 'Spot the British numberplate' when on the Autobahn - but they soon get bored as there almost aren't any past Luxembourg.

Singvogel.
