I have a 2002 TD4 Freelander commercial. I am planning to convert this to a standard 3-door vehicle.

Has anyone out there tried this, and if so is there any advice please?

Thanks Rob

Have you got anywhere with your conversion?
I have just brought the rear 60/40 seat for my van, the worst I can see at the moment is you have to take out the side plastic cards/sides to reveal the seat belt anchor point.

Would be interested to here how you are getting on.

Thanks

There are a few of watch outs:
Landrover do not weld in the rear seat belt mounting points
The brackets for the catches for the rear quarter lights are missing
The rear window blanks are epoxied in and need to be cut out.
I got Frog Island to fix these areas for me.

There are also quite a few little trim fastenings that need to be removed from the donor vehicle as well as the trim cards/panels themselves.

Your also need the seat back mounting panels and need to remove quite a bit of the rear wiring loom to thread it through these seat back mounts.

Other than that it all worked well and I am rearly pleased with the result.

Good luck

Cheers Rob

I have got the brackets for the rear of the seats on the way.

I was wandering about how the interia reels fitted as i could not see any fixing point. Is this easy to do or are there any photos / drawings anywhere.

PS - I am not doing a full conversion, only putting in the rear seats to allow for occasional short local trips.

thanks

Martin

Still need to tell the insurance company to be legal - sounds a bit harsh, but if there is a serious accident and everyone in the vehicle is killed, they have it registered that they will only have to pay out liability on two lives, whereas with the extra seats it could be 5! You may find that you are not covered if something like that does happen.

Matt.

I shall let the insurance company know, once I have fitted the seat & belts etc correctly (no one will be using the back seat until this is done)

regards
Martin
