Hi there, anyone else had my problem, whilst washing the TD4 the alarm goes off when I throw a bucket of water over it ?, also on one occasion when I came out to the car I noticed that the rear window had dropped, quite a worry if I had been parked up somewhere, can anyone help or is it just the electrics not liking winter !! (mines an 02 by the way)

Hi Quoman. . . Yes i have the same thing on my freelander [the alarm going] now i just switch it orft so i think its a common niggle , but never had the window drop, maybe the door not shut correctly, or might be a common problem, maybe more feedback from others. . . Ming

sounds like the sensor in the rear door might have gone? or getting wet? they do have a tendancy to leak water a little if you chuck a lot of water at them, or the rear door needs adjusting a little? check these its worth a look...?

Hi,

Haven't had the problem of the alarm going off but the rearwindow opening by itself I've gone through, back in november 2001, the car was bought or let's say delivered january 9th in 2001, on one morning after a night being parked outside I saw my rearwindow completely lowered, as it had rained that night (fortunately the wind blew from the other side) I got rain in the boot but not too bad. Called the garage and they told me they had a couple of these problems before, they replaced the CCU (central control unit I guess ?) and since no problemp. First they were insinuating I kept the "door open" key on the fob too long pressed which also makes the window go down but when I told them it had rained inside they no longer objected and swopped the computer.

Agreed..the Freelander does seem to be a bit of an Aunt Sally.

Having had a good look around here and other sites I'd say it's no less reliable than any other model in the Land Rover range.

Think I'm right in saying (shoot me down if I'm not) the Freelander has been the best selling 4x4 in this country so it stands to reason there may be more negative feedback as there are more around.

"been the best selling 4x4 in this country so it stands to reason there may be more negative feedback as there are more around"

unfortunatly u only get to hear the horror stories, I for one try to promote its off road abilities and general all round ability that only the Range Rover can match .................... now thats a sweeping statement!
