Hi

I have recently bought a freelancer TD4 and i have just noticed a diesel leak from the front right hand side. Thinking it was either pump or filter till i read on position of these so i am now stuck, has anyone had this problem? is it a common problem?

It seems to be slowly dripping after i have driven, obviously not sure if it is dripping while driving, but MPG seems to be quite stable and no major loss in performance. Once the car settles the dripping stops.

Trying to avoid expensive dealership who will probably rip me off anyway.

Thanks in anticipation.

I have also a 2005 Td4 with 206.000km on the clock. It is also dripping a little. After Convoy4Heroes I will replace the Bosch HP pump. Like Zoolander says. When warm no dripping, but in the morning, cold engine, starts marking it's territory.

this is what i thought from reading other threads... but mine is leaking after long journeys, so it is a hot engine.

Any ideas on that? And how much should i expect to pay for replacement pump?

Drive 4 heroes... good cause.. we walked 86 mile in 24 hours. Old school... (mark 1 feet) lol

Mine used to leak. The most common problem will be the o-rings perished and or cracked inside the pump.

There is no need for a new pump. Refurbishment is what it needs

I took my Freelander to SAS Guildford Ltd. Diesel specialists. They took out the pump, refurbished with new o-rings and seals and refitted pump and testing. They did the work in five hours at a cost of £400 including VAT.

Strewth! this is a far more common problem than I thought. I've had hundreds of hits on my website regarding this issue. Bosch do seem to have a problem with o-ring seals, I had the same issue with a Bosch pressure washer, it was always bursting seals. Anyway there's plenty of info on my site so check it out, and good luck.
