Wobble at slow speed..Shuddering at high speed !!

My 95 disco has a very noticable movement from side to side at low speed and when i am travelling faster there is a noticable shudder . I am notv sure if they are connected but i am assuming they are. Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this ??

it would seem that your low speed wobble is translating into your higher speed shudder. be aware that any shudder that shouldn't be there is putting all sorts of stresses and strains on components which are absorbing the energy of the shudder. this is doing them no good at all and can cause more damage....but what of the fault..have you checked your tyres for damage, or your wheel bearings for looseness. steering perhaps.

also if the judder comes from under the car it could be the c.v joint (cant remember the technical term but its basically the bit that joins the front drive to the rear..this i know from experience is very noticable on hills.

First thing id do is get all the tyres checked and balanced. Mine had a similar problem and i had a tyre that had ballooned up at one point to become egg shaped slightly.

Have you looked at bushes, especially panhard rod and what about your swivels. Also vibration at higher speeds can be prop UJ especially front ones. Hope this helps. Stuart

My 95 landee went into G.W. Motors. Atherstone Staffordshire for a front n/s wheel bearing replacement.
There was a shudder/wobble on the front also.
Whilst bieng repaired George the owner noticed that the swivel joint was loose.
He took a shim out to tighten it up.
Upon driving it away Saturday morning, having gone over several stretches of uneven road,low and behold NO SHAKE RATTLE AND ROLL.
New bearings inner and outer,swivel deshimmed, new fan belt.
I supplied the parts,Labour was £50.00 and George worked on it for 4 hours.
I thought it was a result.

Where abouts in staffordshire is Atherstone?
That wasn't a special rate for you was it?

If you are also feeling sea sick a buckled wheel may be responsible for these symptons

No not a special rate at all,even got a reciept.
Thing is he is not a main dealer,so no 95 quid per hour.

Atherstone is just North of Tamworth.

The fact of the matter is, and i have been in the motor trade for 25 previous years before my current self employ.

When somebody works as an employed "fitter" they do a job in a given time any quicker and they get a bonus.
They do a fairly good job but that's it for a good proportion of them.

An owner who has a passion for vehicles and particularily L/R's,will love working on them and look for other symptoms.

Bit like a GP to a CS.

Also there is the question of money.

Main dealers have overheads coming out their arses.
An owner has to look after himself!!!!!!
