How difficult is it to separate the body from the chassis of a disco 1? I am looking rebuilding a Disco 1 as a project to make me a 4x4 toy. But I want to make sure I have a good chassis and also make sure it will last. Is it a practical thing to do, removing the body?

Thanks
Mik

these only about 8 bolts holding it on plus a few cables/pipes - i've taken one off in less than 20 minutes before when i stripped out the engine - but then i did have a gas axe and wasnt intending to put the body back - and having a forklift to lift the body orf helped

they arent that heavy so a man on each corner could do it

It can be lifted 2 or 3 inches by just taking the bolts out if you have a hi-lift jack you can carfully lift it up a bit at a time and chock it with some timber. You should then be able to see if the chassis is good.
