I am having trouble with my 'r' reg 300 tdi.
I shut the back door the other day (as you do) and when I went to open it the next day it was not having it.
the door lever seems stiff and wont return to its proper position unless you pull it down. it will only open if you put the key in and turn it back and forth...any ideas gang?

The mechanism obviously doesn't work if the lever is partly up, I would start with a generous amount of WD40 on the whole lot, accessed behind the land rover badge I beleive, and through the latch mechanism itself, and see where that gets you.

i'v tried copious amounts of WD40 through the key hole..i will try removing the landrover badge and applying it to the mechanism..i presume the badge just prises out ? if not its dismantle time...thank you for your advice anyway.

Small screwdriver will pop the badge out, its only help in with spit and a prayer anyway. Then spray the lever from left to right, it sticks across the centre pin and spring which you can see in front of you. A good dose will help, ask yella, he's had enough good doses.

yes ive had plenty of doses, yes i remember three in one oil, infact i remember it cos i was in halfrauds yesterday and they had it there, and yes 13 off is correct remove the badge and push the bar back with a screwdriver then liberally apply wd40 or if you go to halfrauds they have 3 in 1 with ptfe which is brilliant. use that. oh danny boy ;)

ta muchly ! as they say here in Wales (which is by default landrover country).
i will give it all a squirt and see what happens.

On the 7th day God rested......then on the 8th day he invented ...the landrover

If squirting your juice over it doesn't work then I'd suspect the over center latch springs. You'll enjoy that job. Over £100 for a lock or 33 for a replacement spring off e-bay. Complete bastard job to fit though.
