Does anyone know if can "up" the power on a 300tdi. All the adverts I have seen for remaps and chips upgrades are for TD5s and more modern cars.

Hello,

You cant remap a 300 tdi as such as they onlyhave a module for the egr valve. what you can do is buying a blanking plate for this and remove the egr valve this increases the power considerably and the plates only cost £3.50ish (ebay), you can also put silicone intercooler pipes, a bigger intercooler or turbo on it and you can turn the fuel pump up which also makes a huge difference!!

Depending on how old the 300tdi is depends on whether it has a catalytic convertor, mine is a 1998 defender and it USED to have a cat on it but it doesnt anymore which gives me more power..

on my vehicle i have removed the egr valve put silcione intercooler pipes, removed the cat, turned the fuel pump and now it goes much better...

hope that helps!!

I blanked off the EGR valve the other day and it does seem a bit better, still a bit slow pulling away. I will definately remove the cat.

What difference would silicone hoses make? and won't fiddling with the fuel pump cause problems elsewhere in the engine?

if your removing the cat and its a defender i know the non cat 300tdi pipe fits beautifully in the hole!!

The pipes i have are from Welcome thes have very minimal silicone pipes and are mostly made of metal which mean when boosting up your turbo the intercooler pipes dont expand like original land rover ones do so you get more low down acceleration, on my land rover you could tell the difference but its not a huge difference.

With adjustment of the fuel pump yes it will evetually cause damage but years and years down the line, as long as you dont over do it you should be fine, just remember you original settings so you can turn it back for the mot!! what worked for me was taking the top off (4 bolts) and turning the diaphraghm 90 degrees clockwise the replacing the top. it takes minutes to do and if you dont like it it takes 5 minutes to turn it back. NOTE,as there will be more fuel there will be more smoke!!

Its a Discovery. I might try adjusting the pump. I don't know that I'd be brave enough to turn it 90 degrees straight away. It hasn't got aircon though so its easy enough to get to if I want to turn it up or down again

fair enough just done go any further thatn 90 degrees...

i dont know what pipes fit a discovery but rimmer brothers are quite good for supplying information.. or your local exhaust fabricatin centre will know you one up. when i removed my cat my land rover actually had a power band so it is worth doing!!

i take it you man adjust the pump and in answer to that you wont know.. but seeing as you removed the egr im guessing its not been turned up..

VanAken do a good job ,they took my 200 tdi for the day and what a great improvment in power and speed well worth getting done:)
