hi
Im a new member im happy i've found a forum site like this i hope you can help me. I've had a land rover 90 project on the go and i've just brought a roll cage from my local garge and the bloke said it was for a 90 but i have got it home and measured it and it seems like every thinks 2 small and it looks like it might fit and im scared it could be for an off roader without a roof. can any one help me and maybe tel me some measurements of there roll cage as im in fear of having to sell it.

many thanks james

Now now sloblet, he seems such a nice friendly chap, give him the benefit of a few posts first.

Ask the bloke at the garge if its an internal or external cage. I'm not sure but I think the internal ones might be smaller than the external ones due to them being fitted to the inside of the vehicle and having to fit inside the body work. The external ones go over the bodywork so they need to be bigger.

If that doesn't make sense, try this. Put on a vest, a shirt and then a jacket. The shirt represents the bodywork of the vehicle and the vest is the internal rollcage and the jacket is the external roll cage. Now take them all off. Chilly isn't it? Put the shirt back on followed by the vest. The vest won't fit over the shirt properly. Thats because its meant to go under the shirt, not over it. So just like and internal rollcage, it fits better inside the shirt (bodywork).

Are you any good with brakes?

you need to know if someone is yankin yer chain or if they really do need help..
maybe he could get steve wonder to have a look for him,and tell him if its too big

I hope that he wasn't being serious, or else I am afraid that you might have scared him off.... Project 90 if you were truely asking for help then please post again. I do not want to see a member of any forum not get help when he/she needs it. I do not have a 90 (or a roll cage for that matter). But I figure that any bloke with a tape measure and a large tri-square should be able to figure out if it will fit or not. As well if the garage sold it to fit a 90 but it does not then I would be talking to the garage and ask them why???

No disrespect here, but i think slob got it right. Anyone who is asking if a roll cage they bought will fit the vehicle they have parked outside must seriously question their own competence in whatever pursuit the roll cage is going to be used for.
I do not own a tri-square, and in fact im not even sure i know what one is, but if i had to ask if my roll cage would fit, surely i shouldn't be fitting it to any kind of off road vehicle, and in fact i would be better suited to driving a Trabant.

its seem like no one can help me then! im not stupid but i have measured it and its doesn't seem like it should fit as its only like an inch or less to small which is why i was asking for a second opinion. i've re-build the engine, and nearly al of the land rover and i've only just gt out of college and some1 had the cheek to say shouldn't hav the project mite want to take that one back. if anyone can still help me please post more.

thanks james

An inch or less too small doesnt seem excessive to me, although im not an expert on roll bars. if it was an inch or less too BIG id be piggin worried, but if it fits snug, and does the job its supposed to i cant see a problem. But i wouldnt think there was another version of the same roll cage with an extra BIT of an inch or less for the same model.

we judge if yer thick or just wheresdildo in disguise. my 12 year old son has been rebuilding engines for about 4 years now (and he can spell). about 18 months ago he replaced the head on my jag and all with no college. they might be able to put water in a bucket at yer college but if the bucket has a hole it it then the water will come straight back out.
there's a hole in yer bucket dear sporty!
