Could do with some help please. Went to open her just now and she won't comply. When I put the key in nothing either.

Any ideas? 03 L322 Petrol.

Flat battery at a guess
Wheel arch liner to pull cable so I'm told

Thanks, I'll get googling. It's odd as I did a couple of hundred miles in her yesterday and I've not had any 'battery issues' that I know of.

mine stopped responding to the key fob the other day but when i used the key in the door a few times it started responding again so i think it was something to do with the position of the drivers door button.

if you have nothing when you put the key in the ignition , ie it wont turn, then i would be looking at a possible battery drain over night, try jumping it using the correct procedure to see if it comes back to life that is assuming that somebody hasnt stuck chrome / colour coded door handles over the keyhole which you will have to remove first

Thanks but alas I can't get the doors open to get in to put the key in the ignition! (Only one key as well. I'm going to have to sort that out pronto!)

The door should unlock like a conventional door lock, ie you put the key in the drivers door and turn it and the button pops up mechanically

Yes I've put the key in the lock and I've turned it (both ways and many times) and it doesn't do a thing.

It certainly was. There's a great saying in that there's never a stupid question, only stupid answers! Many a time I've not been able to see the forest for the trees until someone else said something and I realised I'd not done that particular thing so I'm really grateful.

I'm going to call the recovery in the morning, apparently I might be able to connect the jump leads to the positive end of the starter motor and earth her which should get me in at least! :)

i have just added another link but i guess you have been searching as well.
the only reason i said the door key is that some cars have had a cover added to the door handle to make them look like a later model without the key hole and its a case of pinging off the little cover but thats not the case with you.

They are fussy little buggers, i have found a whole new wealth of faults you wouldnt even dream could go wrong with a car since i have had mine

good luck and keep us posted, its the answers that make the forum what it is :)

Thanks again for that, I've just called the recovery company.

Can anyone recommend an independent garage in the East London area at all please?

Hey there.

Sorry I've not posted until now but the recovery guy got her open. (He was a disco owner and wasn't leaving me stranded! :)

He jacked up the from and used a charge pack which he connected a piece of cable / wire too and touched the positive end of the starter motor. After a few attempts she unlocked.

We the out her on charge for about fifteen minutes and she started first time. He checked the battery and she had something 4.6 volts in her.

Anyway, I drove to halfords and got a new battery fitted there and then.

Thanks to all that have posted help. It's much appreciated. :)

A nice helpfull recovery guy there stroke of luck, get the biggest battery you can fit in theold ones probable goosed now.

He sure was.

It was £120 from Halfords and the old one was a genuine BMW one. I can't believe it's the original but this one has a five year guarantee.
