It's replacing a Samsung which is going senile. The S/S is quite old, about 9 years so no surprises. It was a hand-me down from "er indoors when she upgraded a couple of years ago. But it has stopped doing things - like not letting me sign into...

I reckon it's a 300tdi We shall see if the chassis number exists with no welding in that area. Maybe the OP can provide a photo of the chassis number stamped on the chassis.

Could it be the indicator stalk. The voltage that goes through it and tarnish on the joints fail. I had to do a similar check when main beam failed. Turned out to be a worn out stalk. Dunt the horn run through it?

Ok.. so I connected horn directly to battery.. all good, so horn is fine. Then I found the connector in the steering column, connected battery to here.. again horn is beeping so I’m assuming no break in wire. Then I did the same at the actual...

hm, appreciate the way of thinking about the problem solving aspect. I have the sump off still, so that would give me good acces to check the clearances of the skirts. More info soon. Thanks again.

GEMS has an additional cover plate, but I think the 1999 onwards it's part of the sump on Thor engine ? Not sure about diseasel though. The bell housing inspection plate should be enough to see the flex plate on all types ?

Yes you can just fit one scrader valve in place of the compressor, but you will also need to activate the diaphragm valve to fill the tank. This also assumes there are no other leaks. The problem with this approach is the tank will get...

My local MOT guy will do a dummy MOT test for the standard fee. That way I can fix it before the real test & avoid fails or advisories.

Instead of wasting money on a vanity project like HS2 they should have created a national water grid to even out the imbalances across the country and created more reservoirs and storage facilities.

It looks nice in the picture. However, look beyond the paintwork, alloys and steps. Make sure it’s not just tarted up. The engine is not original. It’s most likely from a disco 1. What does the seller consider a nasty repair? If the chassis and...

Just so you know, if you didn't already, they never made a 1989 300tdi. Post the advert and check it has a vin number relevant to the vehicle. It is highly likely it will have rust, you just have to find it.
  • dag019
At that age mileage is not relevant and you need to buy on conditions. Firstly of chassis and bulkhead, secondly on mechanicals. I have over 400k on my ‘89 110. But only a few body panels have actually done all of that mileage There is no...

Not here yet. Useless water companies, can't plan ahead or fix leaks, won't spend on new infrastructure. Instead they plan to charge us more when there's a shortage.
