Two each their own, but I still like old method of paper gasket smeared with grease. Next time something gets opened up someone will not be struggling to clean off silicone like I recently did with 230 I sorted last year. If you do use silicone...

I did 20 years in insurance, the type accident you are talking about would be investigating mechanical failure by a police forensic investigation team in the absence of any other reasonable explanation and even if one old air spring failed...

Hey all, Got a flat batt, replaced, now it’s asking for a code and doesn’t crank, but I have an aftermarket radio, and no code in docs. Tried disconnecting batt for 10 mins, no dice. What can I do? Have RSW and other tools available, but not...

Double press lock button on the fob, this switches off the internal motion sensors. Have had to lock mine this way for years.

I did the NSF one a few weeks ago and I did say at the time the other one's bound to go soon. So on that point I have to agree with you! I'm not totally convinced that they need to be changed in pairs really, manufacturers will always say...

Ok thanks, I'll get Gigi's cover off and take some pics. Probably tomorrow as we're just heading to my woods with a load of brash for another wildlife pile. It always surprises me how much you can get into an old Landy. 😄

No polint measuring with the plug disconnected. If you look at the diagram in RAVE, and check either the BECM SID or Nanocom BECM documents, you will find the wire functions. You cannot measure pins 2, 3 & 4 correctly with a multimeter...

Well they are both aircooled as well! My dad had one, a firm's car so I never worked on it. My wife's Chesil Speedster is powered by a very tuned VW aircooled flat four and talking to the mechanic at Chesil was how I found out that they have...

Yeah I’ve not noticed any noises whilst changing gear, it’s only when pulling away in first or reversing but today it was fine it didn’t do it at all, I’ll check the UJ’s and bearings at some point this week when I get a minute or two!

To get DVLA information register as a car park owner. You'll get details no bother.

Hi, If the VCU is too stiff, it will get hot when driving especially in corners. If the VCU is too loose, you almost not noticing it. If you get a clang when changing gears at very low speed, it can be the VCU bearings, or any U joint on the...

Similar, Citroen GS/GSA! Flat 4, but that is where the similarity ends I think.

Any sign of a sealer? Some Rolls Royce truck engines didn't have head gaskets back in the day, they used a hylomar sealer which was licensed by RR (can't remember if it was red or blue).

On Saturday I changed the discs, pads and parking brake shoes as well as flushing the brake fluid. I also repainted the calipers while there ahead of the long awaited wheel refurb that it so desperately needs. On Sunday morning I decided to...

A crunching sound when moving the lever into Park is usually a sign of something disconnected downstream of the transmission output. It’s caused by the parking pawl ratcheting on the park lock gear, even though the park lock gear should be...

Thanks for getting back to me. No, I just checked and ran a razor blade scraper around the head and the block there is nothing evident. There are marks indicating there was a head gasket in there at some point but definitely not now. I also...

Well yes - I imagine most places use fairly generic photos for thing like brake pads, rather than taking lots of individual photos of very similar-looking boxes and items.
