I would imagine it would need to be closer. I replaced one on my BMW this time last year because it had rubbed on the reluctor ring. I put a spacer under the new one which was less than 1mm thick and it didn't work. I took the spacer out and it's...

Hi learned forum members. I wonder if you could help me with some advice. Sorry if this has been asked before but I've recently been reading this forum thread that says "please ignore". Now the problem is I've not ignored it and have only gone...

Just checking everyone is being, as usual, an upstanding and responsible adult within the community and ignoring this thread. @MGT See what you have done? There is real work not being done in the world right now because of you. A simple...

You could also try weakening the mixture a tad. Did you pull the plugs after a decent hot run? I seem to remember before, you were happy with the colour of them. You could always do a compression test, if that cylinder is down on pressure then...

... darn it the wood delivery is late. I've got to get it off the drive and down to the woodstore before COB today and it hasn't even arrived yet. :(

Any high temp RTV sealant will do the job. I have used two different brands that were just the ones available on ebay at the time of needing it. Last one was designed to wood burning stove chimneys according to the advert!

Thanks very much. The explanation of where to put the RTV really helps. Hope it doesn't leak any more after you latest effort!:):):)

It should be a fairly large brown wire with a ring terminal (originally attached to the starter) which would come out of the centre of the bulkhead and then go to the passenger side of the engine. I am not sure which side the starter is on for...

Managed to get the two screws out, tried with ignition on but cant get the outer sheath to go in more than about 1/2 inch. Looks like something is stuck in the way or not retracking with the key in the on position. Thanks. Im going to try and...

I've just had the whole thing out and it seems the hook had rotated somehow and so could pop out, I've turned it through 180 and it seems to fit snugly ...I've also squeezed the sides of the handle in the vice so hopefully it'll hold against it a...

The cross bolt of the link plate may need tightening. Hook on link rod may need a tweek so it holds better. Side plates of lever may need a little squeeze to prevent rod hook escape. Button only rotates if hook has come out or its threads to rod...

I'd put it up on here in the 'for sale' section. If closer, I would have definitely had it! Or come along to our planned Freelander meet and bring it with you ;). I'll take it home from there!

Anyone got one for sale and still living in the real world? 10 years ago we used to scrap these engines and no one wanted them and now people are asking thousands for them.
  • tottot
Key has to be in the on position for pull to go all the way in. [ or may just go in with screws removed ] one or tother.

Well that data shows essentially the same as post #30 above. Both O2 sensors are switching, although Bank-B voltage range is lower than Bank-A. My understanding is this shows the air-fuel ratios are adjusting more on Bank-A, but not sure...
