This IS the mod I mentioned in my PM. There is nothing wrong with it, it simply fixes a common fault some develop and does no harm at all.
@sierrafery could explain this far better than me.
Hi all,
New to the forum - I'm in the Canadian Arctic, but I'm a born and bred Brit having spent the first 22 years of my life in the home counties. Cheers, or as we say in Canada 'take it easy, eh'!
I’m almost right in the middle of the US. A 200di would actually be perfect. But wow those engines are pricey now. Though rebuilding the 2.25 isnt cheap either. Already up to around $2800 just in parts (not purchased yet). It has me...
Bought local papers to catch up. They do have national news too. I won't bore you with how their gubmint is thinking of milking 500k pensioners.
More importantly, they said that the Frog rugger team is down 3 good players for the final at...
That's a great tip! I remember the first time I changed the filter on my 90, I think it had been put on using a 12ft extension bar - whatever happened to hand tight for oil filters?! Thanks.
Thanks Nodge..
This part of the assembly has a spacer but it’s solid and not crushable. The two parts(crown assembly and ‘lay shaft’) are pressed together initially(in a press surprisingly enough) Advice that I have read is not to go over board...
My sister in law lives in London and has a 2014 plate Td5 Puma defender 90 and 2 years ago had it converted to Euro 6. Should she expect to get the 6K she spent on this conversion back when she sells it?
Hello folks..
Whilst my IRD was out I decided to remove and clean my turbo etc. now as I approach a possible end date for my IRD rebuild (🤔😏🤣) I’m thinking of the turbo and how to prime it before I lose access to the bottom of it once I replace...
I'm currently using ARP studs on mine, one of my long term goals with this is to get the block redone with flanged liners, so I think I might reassemble for now (after fitting the new valley gasket) and then take it to a specialist soon...
Sorted mine [1990 Ninety] some years ago, had the whole heater box out but can not remember what I did for the motor. However the bearings are just plain bush so probably just lubed them. Still working.
Update on my IRD JIG assembly and an attempt to torque the pinion wheel nut to 184ft/lbs.
I report ‘failure’. I used a 2mm steel plate to fabricate a locking device for the flats on the end of the ‘lay shaft’…Initially the locking device...
So, as you will have gathered we are chez Chateau Vapeur.
Apart from the ferry docking 2 1/2 hours late, the peripherique around Caen was closed and it took 3/4 of an hour to fight our way back onto our route. Most of the drive through the night...
Get yourself a multimeter, cheap enough and you can test the switch and know for sure. It's possible the switch is OK and the wire has chaffed through somewhere and is permently earthed. You can test that with the meter too. Useful kit for...
The heater motor seems to be giving up, seizing up, bearing running dry, rust or whatever.
Are they serviceable in some way?
1989 Ninety if it makes much difference.
Thanks both. I'll have a go when the gasket arrives. I've got the red sealant stuff too so looks like the right stuff.
Still concerned about the discovery of gunk on my oil cap - debating whether or not I should take the heads off and inspect...
