It should have been 4 pin to deal with the stresses of the 4 wheel traction control but 2 pin Thor models have been on here before. There was a big debate (read argument) about it once. Hard to know if it was Land Rover using up old parts or...

+1. People have come across 4 pin diffs in GEMS front axles before so you might get lucky. I'd only change what I have to myself.

I just fitted a 13 pin unit to the wife's D4, I bought it as "used but unopened" so effectively new and paid less than £80 for it. They are available new from around £120 -£130. I'd only use something like that on a late car and then code it so...

Completely agree. The heaters arnt actually that bad at all when the are working 100% People are just used to modern climate control systems that are way over engineered. Im not actually a fan, i genuinely prefer the separate heater and AC in my...

Tried to start the scrapper today. All lights nice and bright and then when I turned the key everything went out and nothing. Looks like a pretty major fuse must have popped.

I did find it terrible before I actually had a look at anything. I then found I had no thermostat fitted, replaced with a 78 degree one. I then found all the foam seals in the heater box had disintegrated, same with the dash air box, after...

Original is some sort of nylon washer. A ring cut from a suitable size alkathene pipe warmed in hot water to soften enough to slip on could do the job and last some time.

Oh and I’ve found the ideal spray booth ! Forget building it in the garage! I’ve just been granted planning permission for an extension on the back of the house replacing my conservatory which we seldom used for a 8x6mt kitchen / family room, so...

I’ve heard mixed reviews about these due to inconsistencies with the manufacturing processes. Some people have said that they are noisy too. Perhaps it’s just luck of draw 🤷‍♂️

I suspect previous owner(s) might have fractured number-2 glowplug in my son's TD4. The threaded part came out leaving the centre firmly in the head. The other 3 changed for new plugs, so it starts mostly ok !! Even leaving it "unclamped"...

Not a huge amount of work, but it would take me a few days as I'll be at work during the day, so only have an hour or two each evening (weather dependant). Can I reuse the valley/intake gasket if I scrape off the existing sealant?
  • awkwardbob
That sounds like good advice. The battery has actually bounced back and I was able to start with a noco. The squealing (from the general alternator area) was loud in startup and the battery voltage was dipping below 12V. When the squealing...

I used some red RTV sealant around those ports, perhaps I made a bad job of it. Only one way to find out how suppose! 🔧 Can the intake manifold + fuel rail be removed without taking off the alternator/ps pump? That would save me a lot of time
