    Heads are back today. Cleaned up nicely, threads helicoiled, and broken exhaust bolts removed. Before the heads go back on -do any of you use additional gasket/sealant in any places on the heads? Thanks

    No will do next week. Mine starting doing this after I did some stuff to the car and disconnected the battery a few times. I’ll let you know if it worked or not!

    bearing is usually different, G one has Rubber ending while the cheap sh*t has metal shield which allows dirt in a lot more easily

    You're probably right Early cars were 4.5 gallons then the tank was made bigger for the 1275 GT mid seventies, I think all Minis got bigger tank a few years later :)

    You might be right, the book says for a 1275 the tank holds 33ltrs and at 4.54l/G that's 7.2 Gallons.

    Straight 6? They are 2.6ltr. If it's a 4 cylinder it's a 2.25.

    any zebra stripe is fine but it must have the right height. the one he had was long and high, I cut it with a long cutter blade, with a single stroke like a guillotine, if I remember correctly I found the right setting with 7mm of height.

    Did some searching on other forums and may have found an answer… crack on the underside of the reservoir tank … had the exact same location of leakage and for about the same period of time driving to get it hot. Must’ve caused it to start...
