Put it in for it's MOT a month early as we are going on holiday beginning of next month ....... and it passed, just with a couple of advisories.

Track rod end had a little bit of play, so replacing the full track rod next week as they are cheap enough.

Exhaust was blowing slightly from the front flexijoint but after having a word with my local indie they suggested an exhaust specialist nearby that can cut the flexi out and replace it for around £60 rather than changing the front pipe.

While it was up on the lift I got a chance to see what the condition underneath was like and it is a lot better than the 3 year younger Suzuki Grand Vitara a had before it.

The air bags must have been changed in the past as they were all in good condition with no signs of wear.

The middle box of the exhaust will need doing within the next year but I already thought that would be the case.

Well that is done for another year. :)

One thing I was impressed with was when the tester did the emissions test.

With it being registered before 1999 he could have just done a visual check on the smoke, I believe, but he stuck the probe up one of the exhausts.

The reading he got was so low it did not register properly on the system and he had to block the other exhaust in order to get a reading the system would accept.

I was worried that, at around 134,000 miles, the engine would be starting to kick out more towards the limits.

Take it it's a diesel. Have to be smoking pretty bad to fail the MOT.
