so after driving me motor for a week (brake pipe needed on micra, took ebay seller over a weeke to get brake pipe out to me), axle oil is coming out the prop end of diff and passenger side rear of hub, all over the brake discs!

I thought I'd cleared this problem as I changed all the seals & checked and cleared the breather pipes last month.

I'm just about to put and order in for some more seals (all of them, including axle stub gasket again!)

Have I missed something here, What else should I be checking?

Disco axles By the way

Cheers

the "prop end of the diff" could easily be the pinion outer bearing is loose/failing so that will kill a seal pretty quick, easy enough to do without the need for specialist tools.

the other one coming out of the rear hub, is it grease or ep90 thats leaking out? it should only be grease really as there is an oils eal in the axle/stub axle that is supposed to keep gear oil out of the hubs, the standard seal on the rear of the hubs is only a grease seal not an oil seal so if oils getting in there it will leak out easily enough.

its definately EP90, its more runny than grease and smells like EP90.

I'll get a pinion bearing as well (seen a how-to somewhere on here so not a toughie to do)

Guess I'll replace the axle/stub seal as well.

Cheers

Well found out why I'm leaking axle oil out the hub on one side

Yep I'd put the hub oil seal in wrong way round.......

So i wore away till the lip went, and also made the hub loose
:fish:

let this be a lesson....mostly for me!
