Yet Another Sprog in the Defender Army!

I've always loved Defenders with a passion and recently threw myself in the deep end and bought my first ever car... Many kids dream for years of owning a ferarri or a lambo and save up an entire lifetime, never reaching their dream of owning that car. I've worked for just under 2 years and bagged myself "SIMBA", the ex MOD 90 2.5l Hard Top and now I'm living the life.

I've had him a couple of weeks now and he runs incredibly well. I've taken him all across England, got him stuck on Skegness beach (learning by doing... resulting in a valuable lesson on tyre pressures), filled him with a heavy load of kitchen tiles and ploughed through a couple of beginner puddles. The fuel consumption is even higher than I'd estimated (which was already pretty high) and if I leave him standing for more than a few days, he gets ****ed off and decides not to play but I wouldn't change him for the world.

Admittedly, I'm a complete sprog to the land rover world and I'm more than likely to confuse an engine for a windscreen wiper or something similar so bear with me Despite having a car that has so far outlived me, I hope that with enough work and love, he'll look after me for years and years to come!

Just thought I'd say a quick hello, post some photos (if I can work out how...) and ask what you guys reckon would be the most worthwhile upgrades to do first on my beast of burden? I'm looking at the 200 Tdi engine conversion (even if it is a bit ambitious for someone who gets immense pride out of drilling 2 holes into the roof for a light rack) and I'm thinking about wolf rims too but any suggestions, comments or ideas... I'd love to hear them

P.s. I've got a very short clip of Simba in yesterdays downpour up north. I can't claim it to be extreme off-roading. It's not even classifiable as "venturing slightly off road" but it's a Landy making light work of conditions that stopped a fair few other cars I'll make a more extensive video once I've had him a bit longer but until then... enjoy!

Welcome to the best place place for info you could find. Best upgrades are a mat for the drive to collect all the oil.
Looks good though, they are great fun

If it's ex MOD won't it already have the heavy duty wheels?

Like I said, I confuse wheels with bonnets I have no idea but a friend of mine said it's got really good tyres but it would be worth putting them on some wolf rims? Have a look at the photos... are they heavy duty?

Welcome to the funny farm Simba 90. Entertaining intro. post.

I stand to be corrected by more knowledgeable folk on here but I think that wolf rims are rated for 2000kg each. It seams to me that you are unlikely to exert that much force on your wheels unless you are doing seriously daft stuff!
If I were you I would buy some Dinitrol or waxoil and do your chassis.

Hahah oh dear, they do very much look like stockings! :S However, I must inform you that:

1) That's not me in the photo, but a good friend
2) I believe they were wrinkled jeans
3) I'm ripping the sh*t out of him from now on in
