I recently bought a piar of Xenon (blue lamps) for my Range Rover. Not
being clued in on the technology I took the advert at face value, believing
that the Xenon source really did give a 30% boost in light output.

Upon receipt of the lamps I realized I'd be conned. Yes I'm sure they do
give at least a 30% increase in light output, but this is due mainly to
them being 100W/90W lamps and as far as I know they are illegal on UK
roads.

So, if there's anyone out there that wants an extra powerful set of driving
lamps for their "off road" project let me know. They should fit any round
headlight, so will fit most LR/RRs.

I'd like about £20 for them, but please don't ask how much I paid as I'm
too embarrassed to admit it ;0(

Hi Paul. I'm in Weston-super-Mud (easy for me to post these anywhere) and
they are for the 7" lamps.

I thought all the LR round lamps were the same?

Once upon a time there were 7 inch sealed beams, a British Leyland thing
perhaps.

I recently replaced mine with quartz halogen and that was a big improvement.

And to think that I once rode a scooter with 6 v 18 watt headlamps and 3
watt rear lamps.

I was stopped once by the police because of the rear lamps and went through
a long explanation of that was what you get with lambretta, there is not
enough magneto power for any higher wattage, which varies directly with the
revs not being battery mediated.

Innocenti, who made Lambretta were also owned by the ubiquitos British
Leyland.
