Hi and welcome!

Japanese engine conversions were common in the 1990’s, there are quite a few still about. A lot have been replaced with Tdi’s from discoveries.

If you’re after an original vehicle, you might want to swap back to the original engine if you have it, or that type for not available. However, if the daihatsu engine is working ok, why not keep it and enjoy the vehicle with what is a reliable engine.

Don’t forget some pics of the Landy too!

welcome.

If you're a stickler for originality then maybe fit the OE engine back in, but if the current unit is working well, I'd leave it be.
