As posted earlier, I am wanting something for off road. Well, I could also
use something to plow my driveway out in the winter. I am considering a Geo
Tracker or Suzuki but I know they won't hold a plow. How about a Jeep like a
CJ5 or Wrangler series ?
What would you guys recommend ?
Thanks,

Get an older series landrover and fit the PTO takeoff... then you can use
big industrial rotary sweepers you see on tractors clearing roads.

If your looking to plow, buy a Scout II or Traveler. They are cheap and last
forever as long as you don't mind the rust.

I agree.

Yes but with a Jeep you can get every part ever made easely, and half the
parts from a 46 will fit on a 2001.

The CJ or Wrangler Jeeps are excellent off road machines and parts are
easy to come by.

I like my old jeeps.

What should I look out for when buying a Jeep ? Is there any known problems
to look for ? I live in Iowa, Where are the troublesome rust spots located ?
Does anyone push snow with a Jeep and how do they do ?
Thanks,

I am in Canada and see lots of Jeeps with plows. I see the same ones
winter after winter, so I figure they must work ok although I don't have
first hand knowledge.

For rust spots....

On a CJ or Wrangler, behind the seat at the base of the roll bar. In
front of the passenger side leaf spring on the inside of the frame rail
box. At the very end of the frames by the rear cross member. And check
the body mounts. Also check for rust or a crack where the steering box
anchors on.

Usually either the frames are clean and almost rust free or they are a
total disaster and rotted right out. I haven't seen many in between
that.
