Oh my god what a day a couple of probs that i thought i'd tell you guys about and see if any similar things have happened, firstly 300Tdi the drive belt seems to be a 7 toothed one all other pulleys etc are 7 toothed except alternator one which has 6 this means that the belt lips up on the riges and is making a funny sound!!! i,ve now got a 6 toothed belt on but it's wierd the old belt was fecd' and looked as if at 1 stage it had been a 7 tooth item.
Also Aircon had no belt on when i bought the car so went to put one on today took off the cowling and found a black n white wire leading from a multi type join into the back of the pulley had been cut, by the spinning of the air con pulley and there is no loose wires to attach to, haynes shows no photo,s or explaination of this so i'm a bit stuffed any ideas:confused:
other than that all went well!!! total cost inc labour/helper £220 inc parts

sounds more like the drive belt, and when you say teeth do you really mean grooves?
that wire on yer A/C is for the compressor clutch. there should be a pressure switch on the back of the comp. one side will have a live feed and the other will go to the clutch.

Really dont know SLob re Cam belt put timing belt you know what i mean , ref aircon there doesnt seem to be a multi plug at the back of the fly wheel so i'm gonna take it to a expert on monday!!! pointless having it if it dunt work i :D tried to HOT WIRE IT WITH SPARE WIRE IT JUST Sparked . re cam belt this a grey area int it? anyway way the one that costs money if it fekks up!!!!

Charlsey HEY **** taker you must charge £50 an hour with snipes like that sorry were not all as brilliant as you!!!

No really, no offence meant, BUT if you want good assistance from people who can help you by remote control, YOU need to provide good information to us.

Checks the parts books and see the difference between CAM BELT and DRIVE BELT.

Don't get upset - life is too short for that.
Be patient and tactful like Slob.

Oh yes, and by the way, you will need to change the cam belt one day. It should be changed on schedule to reduce the chances of it breaking and wrecking your engine.

Get a manual now and read the chapter on chaging the timing belt.
