Following advice, I've spent ages waiting for the right Disco for me. Been to see a few and come away wondering if my expectations are too high... Anyhow, today we took little one to school in the wifes Vectra, negotiating the unheard of snow in Paignton when all hell broke loose. Now I have a Vectra that is not exactly running. Wind it over 'til it coughs, splutters and eventually goes, then face the virtual christmas tree of dash lights... Anger (engine) management, Traction control, Airbag(?) a rev counter that waves at you and other intermittent pretties.

Reckon I'd have faired better with a boot floorless, unserviced, high milage 300 TDi?

There are ordinary cars for ordinary people. Millions and millions of both

But then again there are extraordinary cars called LandRovers for nutters like us!

Lol. I'd rather be out there investigating the issues known to Disco's. Mustn't grumble like, the vectra has been going for 2 years now and it has cost less than £500, including it's purchase. Just annoys me... Devon has ground to a halt becasue of a fluttering of snow, devonian car has done the same. I want a scottish Disco lol.

I'm far from ordinary, thus I am eligable for a L/R!

Sounds like an earth fault or a short from the main ecu .. I'd look underneath for any exposed wires/connections that might have been pulled or forced out by the accumulated snow/slush/ice.

... and yes, a crappy old Disco is always better than any Vectra ... ;)

I have looked at many and there was a really tidy 200 for £500. Kicking myself now as I snubbed it because I wanted the updated appearance of the 300! I'll explain this to the wife... NOT!

All modern cars can be sods, Disco are no different just great if you tow big trailers and like to sit up high
