Wires to fuel tank sender ?

Two answers for positions for the three wires are

Black rear
White middle
Green front

Got power at white wire at tank but none at green wire

Connected the earths up on the bulkhead by the clutch master cylinder and the gauge now works

Bent the rod on the sender unit so as it shows quarter full with the two and a half gallons that I put in it from empty, the light just comes on at quarter as well.

So now I will know that when the light comes on I have well over 50 miles left
