Done a search and found that there are two answers at least to the question
My 90 is a 1990 and I would have thought it would be wired the same as a 110.

Two answers for positions for the three wires are

Black rear
White middle
Green front

or
White rear
Black middle
Green front

Just found another thread which gives two wires (three connectors on sender)
Black middle
Green Front

This mite vary but if you mess with the three wires you can get it so the warning light works from empty-1/4 full rather than from empty-1/2 full as i find the warning light quite annoying at times aspecially on motorways and you know you have plenty of fuel in for the journey you are doing :)

Gauge not working but it was when I parked it up.
Got power at white wire at tank but none at green wire

Tried putting green to black but gauge didn't move
Tried white to black and low fuel light didn't come on

Have to test the gauge when I get round to the interior:(:)

Sorted
Connected the earths up on the bulkhead by the clutch master cylinder and the gauge now works:)

Bent the rod on the sender unit so as it shows quarter full with the two and a half gallons that I put in it from empty, the light just comes on at quarter as well.

So now I will know that when the light comes on I have well over 50 miles left:cool::):)

By the way it was white (light) to rear black (earth) in middle and green (gauge) to front
