Can you not 'release' the wires from your plug - if you look closely you may see a tang that needs to be held back ...

and re-wire the replacement with your plug !

I was thinking that and maybe using a connector block. I'll need to think.

I was looking at adapters...any advice would be good

Hmm! The discovery ones look similar from the 200 / 300tdi. Some have the white plug.

disco 200 will be same. how about you pm me your address and i'll post you the one i've got here. chop the connector blocks off and replace with crimped terminals. should be fine, then return the one you've bought.
