The ongoing saga with my windscreen wipers.

They stopped working altogether recently, following a period of time where the intermittent setting caused the wipers to wipe constantly.

So I replaced the fuse which had blown. Still didn't work so I replaced the dash wiper stalk as I had accidentally bent it. Still they don't work. Every time I turn on the ignition I can see the 10 amp fuse blowing and sparking.

So what would cause the fuse to blow so easily? Surely a faulty park switch or relay wouldn't cause this?

I would suggest either seized or nonfunctional wiper pivot putting undue strain on the motor, or shorted winding in the motor itself. I'd pull the motor and run it on the bench - if that works it's either the intermittent circuit shortied or screwy, or as i said a bad pivot causing the motor to bind and overload.

Wiper motor burnt out or seized, stiff wiper mechanism or a chaffed wire will all cause a fuse to blow. try disconnecting the motor first, if fuse still blows then its wiring, if not start looking at the motor/mechanics
