Anyone go off roading/greenlaning in wiltshire and know of places allowed at any time?
I know of the ridgeway but can be closed at various times!

Have you tried Salisbury Plain? Thats in your neck of the woods. You will need to find out if the Army are firing or not on the day you go. If not, just get yourself An Ordnance Survey map of the local area and check out the byways.

I agree with Fishface, get a landranger - Wilts is absolutely littered with byways:D I once started off at Pepperbox hill, there's a nice little lane probably a mile long to get started with. It had some heavy ruts last time I was there - I think it's quite popular.

there's a fork along the track and you could go left or right. I followed 7 Defenders on this ocassion and they went left by mistake - they wanted to go right so I let them back up and pass me. I asked if I could tag along - but they said the right fork was medium to advanced stuff - I was just begining and so went left.

Probably best to go left if you're just getting started.
