Disco 3 (LR3) Which Discovery??

Hi,
I'm looking at getting a Disco 3.
I was only really looking at TDV6s but it seems there's a V8 :O
Given that the govt is about to crucify oil burners this might be an option.
What is the general feeling amonst those who know about TDV6 vs V8?
 
The general consensus seems to be that D3's are something of a money pit and I guess a V8 D3 will be an even greater one unless you get one with LPG!
