Which Defender to buy!!!

Hello...Ive been without a Defender for a couple of years now and i am looking for another one. I will prob have about 17k to spend but might be able to squeeze a bit more, trouble is that ive been looking on the internet for weeks and been blowing my brain with which one to get. I might want a low mileage 300tdi or maybe a td5 , but ive read that the puma ones are not good,So i guess what im asking is which one would buy? and what year did the puma's kick in ? also could i get a good low milage SVX for that sort of money?..

Where have you heard the puma ones are not as good, if I was spending 17k that's what I'd be spending it on, not something 15 years old, that transit engine has been in millions of vehicles, I had a transit bought new in 2001, I sold it in 2007 with 425,000 miles on it
