It's a lot ter tek in and av had a lapse! Peed off at some very bad decision making though, dunt half feel stupid now.

every firm i've worked for uses him, his stuffs spot on and certified

With regards the steering guard and recovery point queries .......
I have seen folks weld the original towing brackets from the rear of a Disco (egg shaped with one small hole and a larger one for the shackle) onto their steering guards ......... would this be ok as i'm thinking of doing it to the Mrs's Disco

Nah go to a proper chain, sling lifting place and buy a pair of lifting eyes. they are available as either weld on or with a threaded section so you can bolt them on.
