Took my 1998, 1.8 litre Freelander to be serviced. Was told that the water pump was starting to leak. Two weeks later I have a substantial stream of coolant coming from under the car. I thought I would have a go at fixing it but can't find how to get to the water pump. I have been told that I should replace some belts while I was at it. Any suggestions?

Water pump is on driver side of the engine - surrounded by and driven by your cambelt. You will need to remove the plastic cambelt covers to gain access.

I would change the water pump and gasket as well as cambelt, and as a preventitive measure, the power steering and alternator drivebelts.

Regards,

Steve
