Hi all have a question ive put bigger tyres on my 90. 265 75 16 and they now hit my radius arms when turning so i need to space my wheels i have 1996 discovery axles on so would need spacers to suit those axles

What size should i go for 20mm 30mm ?? My car is used on road and the only time it will probably go off road is when i go on a beach with the dogs or to a mates who lives on the local moss near me and a maybe green laning trip

All help appreciated

30mm :) mine are bulldog ones of ebay as they had the hub centring thingy in the middle lol :)
 
there are stop bolts on the axle to stop you turning the wheels too far and hitting the radius arms..... if wheels rub slightly wind em out.. problem solved... very slight reduction in turning circle but wont need muchas op's tyres aren't overly big

Alternately, like mine once you have the spacer ( yes can increase wheel bearing wear) you can wind the lock-stops in making it better at turning in tight spaces, good for 110 :)

The stop bolts control the arc the swivel joints will turn through. Whip the front wheels off and turn the steering from lock to lock and you'll see them. Winding them out will reduce the turning circle and prevent the wheels hitting the radius arms. Spacers are not a good idea as they will increase bump steer and put more stress on the wheel bearings and swivel bearings.

I've had 35mm spacers on running 265 insa turbos for about a year now and all wheel bearings are completely fine. Yes they would put more strain on them but 90% of the time it won't really affect them if you've got good quality bearings.

I'm Supprised mine haven't gone yet as the amount of off-roading it gets and as my daily driver.
Plus spacers gives your truck some stance for scaring off them freelanders :rolleyes:
