Morning to all you knowledgeable land rover guys I am new here and very impressed with some of the answers from various members so hopefully you may be able to give your opinion on the problem that occurred yesterday.
bought 2009 Freelander 2 with 52000 miles & full L/R service history in mint condition just over a week ago drives great with no problems until yesterday.
Picked up my caravan to take for trade in and noticed squeaking/ whistling noise as soon as I got on the road thought I had left the hand break on caravan checked but it was off so then thought maybe breaks sticking a bit on van so carried on my journey as only 15 miles to dealer.
Deal done set of back to my caravan storage with new caravan but now whistling starts again and is continuous but when I go round a left hand corner it stops when I straighten out it starts again also when I had to break once a bit heavy it stopped the whistle for a second so now I am thinking maybe hand break on landy sticking back at storage checked all wheels rear n/s was very hot compared to the others and break drum/disc was to hot to touch dropped van off then checked hand break was not sticking all was ok
set of home lo and behold no whistling drove the 10 miles back home checked checked n/s wheel again it was not as hot as with the van on but certainly warmer than the others so now I am thinking wheel bearing as problem only apparent under load
Would appreciate any input or advice
