What Year....

...... did the IRD's start to have different gearing to reduce transmission wind up? I've been advised that "later" models had the gearing changed in the IRD's to help prevent the VCU problems but what is classed as "later"??

I'm after a 2000 TD4 but may get newer if there's less chnace of the IRD blowing up!

Dont know about year for ird but I think a 2000 model wont have to pay the higher road tax that a 2001 model will!!

I would like to know if there is a part number or something on the actual IRD that will indicate which IRD I have in my GL..??? I get a mixed response as to when they changed it, so if there is some physical way by which I can tell by looking at the IRD it would help.
