Not seen another defender with the same mirrors as what I have. Im missing a cap of my drivers side. All searches on ebay and google when I search for wing mirror cap or cover show normal standard wing mirrors. So are the ones on my ex mod not standard?

Can anyone help with a part number or know where I can buy one. Surely they cant cost much at all?

I got them on mine! They are as tight as I can get them and they still spin round when I shut the door!

When the cap dropped off I used the top off some sort of aerosol can that fitted quite well and there it has remained! Trouble is I can't remember what can it was off! Sorry!!!

Just find one that fits and then paint it!!

I've had a quick look on the Land Rover Microcat system and I can't see anything like those, they may be something the military fit.

They are made by Spafax and as sugested are a MOD fit, marketed as being 'unbreakable' and also sold by Bearmach amongst others.
I've got the heated ones on my 90, if bought as an aftermarket part they come with a separate adapter that allows them to clamp onto the ball on the end of the standard arm.

spafax i got them on mine ,mod fit, iv'e seen a few people with these complaining about them coming loose but if you do up the allen bolts in a forward facing position and then spin the mirror itself around a few times it screws itself tight.mine never move and i get better vision than standard

should have gone to ...

Can't for the life of me see how they can come loose if done up tight, problem I have is thet they are so rigid that if I want to fold the arms flush against the door I can't as the mirror head won't move on the ball! Mine have been on for nearly 3-years now and have never needed adjusting as they just don't move!!

the last time i was visiting my brother in winterborne a few of the mod lads were complaining about these moving above 30 mph and once i told them to spin the mirror to tighten it they had no more issues, no one ever told them aparently.

Thanks for the info guys - Yes they do come loose. The problem is the screws are all rusty. I just put them in the position I liked then put a couple drops of superglue and they hod tight now (until I hit a branch I guess lol ).

replace em with stainless allen m6 which is what they should have anyway mate.

Just remembered that apart from the clamp that holds the mirror head onto the ball there is also a friction joint which consists of a nyloc nut tightening up against a spring. This allows small head adjustment and as I recall was quite loose when I fitted mine but as that was 3-years ago I can't recall exactly how to access it however I think it is from behind the 'glass'.
