What type of anti freeze in a 200.

You want the old stuff basically if its blue and the cheapest on the rack its the kiddy.
If you do some research theres a few good reasons not to use oats the red stuff in classic motors to do with seals and gaskets.
Ive got 2 x 200 and both use the blue gear for last 5 years no problems.

You have to be careful with colours as the blue can turn green in use, theres also a multitude of different specialised anti freezes out there.

Nick Haynes says Ethelene Glycol based antifreeze , I believe this is because of the alloy cylinder head.
Worth a read of this
Consider the Anti-Freeze Colour

Green anti-freeze was once the only anti-freeze available, but the product now comes in numerous colours that actually make a difference and are important considerations in the decision making process. Green anti-freeze uses Inorganic Acid Technology (IAT), which makes it suitable for pre-1998 vehicles. Nonetheless, it is important to check the manufacturer's site or the car's manual to ensure green is the right choice. Orange andred anti-freeze coolant use OAT and last longer. They are less likely to corrode and tend to work better with aluminium. It is important to never mix long-life anti-freeze with green anti-freeze. This leads to excessive corrosion, which is worse than driving without any anti-freeze at all.
.
After reading that will have to check what I have in my engine.

Mine feild indeed...I have alway put in the stuff I get from work for free...its green and goes in Volvo trucks,

I looked up the 200 on the Halfords web site...you type in your reg and it tells you....they say Silicate A/F I have never heard of it,

Take a look...http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...oreId=10001&catalogId=10151&categoryId=255224

Yes my Manual says use Ethelene Glycol based antifreeze But it looks like they are all based on that with differences,
