Hey Guys,

Just wondering if theres anything i should be looking out for in my defender 110 td5, bought it recently, has 140000 on the clock, any specific wear and tear i should get double checked, its due a service so im thinking its probably best to get the timing belt checked anyway but are there any other things i should tate a look at:confused:

Thanks for the help:)

How old? Check the chassis, you have salty air there! Chassis is the main show stopper.

Maintenance wise, change the oils (gearbox, transfer, diffs, and of course engine), listen for unusual rattling or clunks in the gearbox - check the low ratio and diff lock work OK, check what's leaking out onto yer driveway and at what rate, and check to see that your bank don't charge you too much for an overdraft!

I just bought a 2002 with 90,000miles on it and I changed the damper with improved it tenfold. On mine I checked:

Brakes and Pads (Front Discs and Pads Changed)
Track Rods Ends (All three changed)
Shocks and Dampers (Steering changed to uprated)
Bushes (changed all round to polybushes)
Exhaust
Oil Levels G/BOx T/Box Axles
Hubs
Serviced ( I had no proof of last service with mine)
Propshaft / Play in transmission
