What should I look for?

Hi all,
I'm on the verge of buying a S3 109 and i'm going to have a look round a few soon. My question is, are there any common problems that I should look for in paticular? Also, where are common rust spots that I should check and which should I be worried about (obviously chassis rusting )?

You're talking about vehicles of 30 years old plus here so the answer to the question is, everything and everywhere. If you assume the worst you won't be dissapointed. And like Sean says DO A SEARCH!

I bought one with a galv chassis and thought I was pretty careful when I checked but still found a rusty outrigger behind the fuel tank and a couple of dodgy spots on the bulkhead. Check under rear floor, the steel supports can react with the alloy floor and rot away. Whatever you buy it will likely need some work but that is half the fun!
